International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church
DAY TWENTY SIX: Sunday, November 9, 2008
Read Hebrews 13:1-9
"Remember those who are in prison as if you were in prison with them. Remember those who are suffering as if you were suffering with them." Hebrews 13:3 (NCV)
ONE HOPE is the thems of this year's observance of the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, which is being observed today by Christ followers all around the world.
In addition to prayer, this year's emphasis is to raise money to purchase Bibles for children in areas of the world where Christ followers are persecuted.
"In many countries, Christian children have no accesss to Bibles or Christian materials. They are fearful of something terrible happening to their parents. They are introduced to the dangers of the world at such a young age, they are no longer innocent children. They feel the pang of worry, isolation, vulnerability, and panic.
"Can you see why we must pray for these vulnerable young believers?
"It only costs $5 to publish and send one Bible to build a child in his or her young faith. And most importantly, you will bring them the ONE HOPE on which they can stand strong!" (From a letter by Open Doors.)
Action step for today: Give $5 per Bible for as many Bibles as you want to purchase for children who need them around the world.
