Heading in the Right Direction

DAY TWENTY FOUR: Friday, November 7, 2008

Read Matthew 12:1-21

"And his name (Jesus) will be the hope of all the world." Matthew 12:21 (NLT)

In the classic fairy tale Alice in Wonderland there is a conversation between Alice and the Cheshire Cat. Alice asked, "Would you tell me please, which way I ought to go from here?"

"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the cat.

"I don't care much where," said Alice.

"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the cat.

Christ's enemies were constantly trying to interfere with His ministry of healing people's hurts with His words and miracles. But Jesus, God in the flesh, had no trouble turning the tables on them with His superior logic.

The religious hypocrites confronting Jesus were very much like Alice; they didn't give much attention to where they were headed. Therefore it didn't matter which way they went.

But for anyone interested in winding up at the right place in this life - as well as the life to come - following Jesus is the only right way. "His name is the hope of all the world." There is not another way for people in Asia, or people in South America, etc. Jesus is the only way to God and everlasting life for everyone everywhere.

Action step for today: Tell someone about Jesus who has never heard or give so a missionary can tell someone who has never heard about Jesus.
